“Meet the Mets”

Even though I’m not a Mets fan, I can’t help but love this tune.  This song was written in 1961 by Ruth Roberts and Bill Katz, and it definitely puts me in that time period.  It kind of makes me want to get dressed up, stop for some ice cream, then stroll down to the ballpark.

  1. As someone who grew up on the triumvirate of Lindsey Nelson, Bob Murphy, and Ralph Kiner, “Meet The Mets” is a big part of my childhood. As an aside, it was considered a matter of course that, as soon as Bob Murphy said a pitcher had “good stuff”, he would get absolutely shelled immediately after that.

  2. Love this! Thanks for sharing. My brother-in-law grew up as a Mets fan and whenever we talk about the Mets we all start singing this song and a 52 year old guy is suddenly a little kid again. 🙂
