Rickey Henderson’s Hall of Fame speech

Considering his reputation for an inflated ego, referring to himself in the third person and the like, Rickey Henderson’s Hall of Fame induction speech is pleasantly humble.  He seems genuinely appreciative of the opportunity to join the big names in Cooperstown.

  1. i always welcomed Rickey’s ego and am glad he’s in the hall of fame. I think his third person antics and swipe catches could be compared to the Cuban habit of getting over excited during a game (Yasiel Puig throwing down his glove as an example). I think it’s a cultural thing and America tends to project its values onto other cultures.
