Wow! While most years I feel pretty neutral about the World Series (unless, of course, the Royals are in it), this year, I must confess, I will be rooting for the Cubs. Part of the reason lies in the fact that they will be facing off against the Indians, and if the Royals can’t win the Series, then I would prefer that nobody else in the AL Central win it. Also, the historian in me can’t help but get excited about the fact that, this year, I may have the opportunity to see a huge bit of baseball history. True, both teams have had quite a World Series drought, but the one that Chicago finds itself up against is one of legendary proportions. Go Cubs!

I have reasons to root for both teams, but for me, it’s more a matter of divisional and league pride. If the Royals can’t win it, then I’d like to see the AL representative win, especially when that team is from our Central division. I’d be thrilled for Ben Zobrist if the Cubs win, and the poor Cubs are WAY overdue, but my allegiance still lies with the American League. When the Indians win in seven, they can thank the Royals for giving them home-field advantage. 🙂
That makes complete sense. Divisional and League loyalty did cross my mind, but it’s not enough for me 🙂 It won’t break my heart if the Cubs lose, but I sure would love to see them win it!
Well, I was in one of the key crowd scenes in Major League II so I have some experience being an Indians fan. In any event, I’m going to enjoy this series … should be a good one! (I’m waiting for the voters on my blog to tell me which team I’m rooting for)
That’s another good way to decide :). Normally, in a situation like this, I let folks decide for themselves, but I was curious to see how your poll was shaping up, so I cast a vote anyways.

In a rare instance, we oppose each other on a concept! Despite having grown up in Cincinnati, I became a dual Reds/ Indians fan in 1981 (except for 1993-2003 after Jim Bowden fired Tony Perez, over the phone and after only 44 games),
Nothing wrong with rooting for the opposition in baseball :). Besides, it’s not like I’m a die-hard Cubs fan, I would just like to see a little history (though, the Series in itself is pretty historical with these two teams). Looks like you’re up 1-0!
