Here’s a song by the great Bob Dylan about the one and only Catfish Hunter. It’s short and laid back, and the mood of the song fits in well with Hunter’s modest background. The lyrics, however, speak to the acclaim that the right-handed pitcher earned over the course of his career.
Still trying to wrap my head around a bluesy tune about a baseball pitcher. Jail time, poverty, bad luck, my baby left me — all great candidates for the blues. But a wail over balls and strikes? I guess that’s do-able, Bob Dylan did it. Maybe I just need to broaden my horizons a bit, huh? 🙂
Dylan pulls it off extremely well. I was impressed. I could sit on the porch with a beer listening to this.

Fascinating… Definitely a different sound of his voice for sure. I’m not entirely sure how I feel about it.
Me neither but not because Mr Dylan used Nelly instead of Kelly. I had a nice moment just now. I clicked on the Mr Dylan link to see what name Mr Dylan used – Nelly or Kelly and as the take me out song played, so did Arcade Fire’s “Neighborhood #2 Laika”…that’s the wonder of multiple windows I guess and I swear the double sound made so much sense that I thought it was supposed to be that way. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=siFsdInZqC0
I enjoy this album 🙂 I hadn’t listened to it in a while, but now I’m going to have to make a point to play it again.
