Calvin had no idea! That cartoon is from 1993, when Bobby Bonilla was the highest paid baseball player. His $6.2 million salary in 1993 is comparable to $10.5 million today. That would put him at #127 on the list of highest paid ballplayers this season (tied with the Nats’ Matt Wieters) and nowhere near the $35.5 million Clayton Kershaw will make this season.
Calvin might not make $35 million — or even $10.5 million — but at least he still has Hobbes, and Hobbes is priceless!
Wow, yeah, that certainly puts things into greater perspective! And yes, Hobbes is hard to beat.
…and if he had been smart like Bobby Bonilla, he would STILL be getting paid! lol
