This day in baseball: Sallee steals home

Stealing home is a very rare feat in Major League Baseball, and it is even more rare to see a pitcher pull it off.  On 22 July 1913, Harry Franklin “Slim” Sallee became the first pitcher in St. Louis Cardinals history to steal home plate.  He did so in the third inning at Ebbets Field in a 3-1 victory over the Brooklyn Superbas (a.k.a. Dodgers).
