In 2006, the largest-ever induction class to the Baseball Hall of Fame were honored — 16 men and one woman, all of whom were influential in the success of the Negro Leagues. Buck O’Neil kicked off the ceremony with this perfectly fantastic, heart-felt speech.
You can find more information about this ceremony here.
Now there is a man who knew who he was and what was what.
And not afraid to say it!
Buck was a class human being and a wonderful baseball ambassador.
Indeed he was. And his legacy lives on.
Hearing Buck talk brings a smile to my face.
He’s so genuine. It’s refreshing.
