This chart reminds me of something I’ve never quite understood. Football, soccer, and basketball all have playing areas that are the same size. Baseball has different outfield dimensions and different sized of foul territory. Yet home field seems to matter less in baseball than the other sports. Strange, at least to me.

That does seem to be true. I wonder if it has to do with the communication factor? In sports like football and basketball, a lot of communication goes out via yelling, whereas in baseball, it’s all about hand signals. So a big, large crowd is more likely to disrupt a player trying to yell/hear. I have no idea if that’s true, but it’s what comes to mind.
