I think Ted even agreed that Joe D was the greater all around player.
I vaguely recall hearing something like that, as well. Says a lot about DiMaggio.
It seems today that DiMaggio is downgraded- due to his career stats- which were hurt by WWII and injuries and an early retirement- but I recall back when i was younger when I would ask old timers who the best player they ever saw was- most who went back to that era would immediately say- DiMaggio.
