With this performance, he becomes just the fifth player in Major League history to collect 3,000 hits and 500 steals in his career. The other four players? Honus Wagner, Ty Cobb, Eddie Collins, and Lou Brock. Pretty good company!

His 3,000th hit coming in 2001, putting him just three years behind Molitor.

i hope ichiro sticks it out another year, but if his japanese stats are merged with mlb, i think he’s already at 3,000 and 500.
I wouldn’t doubt it. He certainly deserves the recognition.
