This day in baseball: Foxx’s MVP awards

On November 2, 1938, Red Sox first baseman Jimmie Foxx received 19 of 22 first-place votes on the Most Valuable Player ballot.  Winning the award that year made him the first player in baseball history to win the MVP award three times, having won it previously in 1932 and 1933 while with the Philadelphia A’s.
