In a game against the Philadelphia Phillies on July 18, 1912, the Chicago Cubs collected 21 hits in eleven innings. The Cubs still lost to the Phillies, however, when Philadelphia scored two runs in the top of the eleventh, and Chicago was only able to respond with one. The final score of the contest was 9-8.

Funny to see the Cubs on any home field other than Wrigley. I kind of like the look of this West Side Grounds and totally dig the sign under the scoreboard – The Daily News – back when actual newspapers existed.
I confess to missing newspapers. Sure, the digital access to so many news sources can be handy, but the old school newspapers that turned your hands black will always hold a special place in my memories.
