Quote of the day

Baseball’s Opening Day is full of time-honored traditions: the President throws out the first ball, the Cubs’ starting pitcher walks away with a 54.00 ERA, the Royals get mathematically eliminated from the pennant race.

  1. I was watching a Royal’s game last week and for one thing, I really enjoyed their announcers especially the enthusiasm of Rex Hudler. They might surprise this year. I like their off season moves.

    1. I do love the Royals’ announcers. And I’m hoping that you’re right about their potential this season. That seems to be the consensus, and I’m glad they made the moves this off-season — some years, it has felt like they’ve just laid down and accepted their fate, but this year feels a bit different. Their first two games worried me, but yesterday’s performance brought back a bit of hope.

      1. I don’t know why, but I always liked the Royals, even more the last 25 years or so, ever since the Brewers moved to the National League. I like having a favorite team in each league. A friend of mine growing up in Milwaukee was a huge Brett fan. Had a poster of him on his bedroom wall. That trade the Brewers made to get Zach Greinke pushed the Brewers into the playoffs and getting Lorenzo Cain was incredible.
