Henry “Heinie” Zimmerman of the Cubs had a monster game against the Boston Braves on June 11, 1911. With two home runs, a triple, and two singles, Zimmerman collected a team record nine RBIs as Chicago won in a 20-2 rout. It is a record that continues to stand today, only being tied by one Sammy Sosa on August 10, 2002.

Zimmerman was one of those players caught up in the aftermath of the Black Sox scandal and later barred from baseball. He was actually a pretty fair player, at least when he played it straight.
Thanks for the info.

Now that you mention it, I do recall his name in that! Thank you for jogging my memory.
Wow! Can’t beat that. Of course, I read it and thought, “Awww … too bad he didn’t get a double so he could have hit for the cycle.” I guess we fans are never satisfied. 🙂
Last week, former University of Virginia outfielder Derek Fisher made his High A debut in the California League for an Astros club by hitting three home runs — including two grand slams — and notched 12 RBI, a California League record.
That dry California air must run fast! Goodness!
I thought the same thing as I was writing it :).
That’s an amazing debut… holy cow! I couldn’t help but look it up: http://www.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20150531&content_id=127691776&fext=.jsp&vkey=news_milb. Amazing performance. Thanks for the tip!
