On January 12, 1983, Orioles Gold Glover Brooks Robinson became the 14th player to be elected to the Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility. Also elected to the HoF this year was right-handed pitcher Juan Marichal. Marichal was the former ace of the Giants and the all-time winningest pitcher from Latin America.

this might sound terribly superficial, but that peach sport jacket of Mr. Robinson doesn’t even resemble an Orioles color.
True, but I think that a true Oriole-orange jacket would be awfully bright and a little hard on the eyes, yes?
Good point. Maybe the orange would be better received in those partridge family 60’s and early 70’s when any color seemed to fly, astros, padres, expos, but come to think of it, maybe anything would fly today as well, with all the retro uniforms and yankees wearing green hats and what not. I wonder what the most outlandish costume worn by a hall of famer during the induction ceremony is so far?
Fascinating question. I’m almost tempted to start researching induction ceremony outfits just to answer that.
