Yogi Berra and Don Larsen (Wikipedia)
If you need a reason why baseball is the greatest game ever invented, simply look to the fact that the one pitcher to throw a World Series perfecto was not Young or Grove or Koufax or Kershaw, but Don Freakin’ Larsen.
So much truth to this.
I just about got goose bumps when I found out who threw out the ceremonial first pitch at David Cone’s 1999 perfect game….yep, Don Larson did and to Yogi Berra too! What are the odds!! If I ever buy another lottery ticket, i should probably invite a previous lottery winner to accompany me.
This is such a great story! I’m not a lottery ticket person, but if I ever buy one, I think your idea sounds like it’d be worth a shot, for sure.
Larsen was the ultimate lottery ticket winner.
