On May 23, 1890, the New York Giants and the Pittsburgh Alleghenys stole a combined seventeen bases in a single game, setting a National League record that still stands today. New York won the contest, 17-10.
The overall Major League single game record for combined stolen bases was set on April 22, 1890 by Philadelphia and Syracuse in the American Association.

What I’m getting from this picture is that I don’t want to be sitting in that second deck. A bit rickety for my taste.
Not to mention a vulnerable target in the event of a heavy storm.
if that happened today, the powers that be would probably impose a stolen base attempts limit for each team.
Oh goodness, that would be awful. Stolen bases are one of my favorite things in baseball.
me too, that cat and mouse makes sitting on the first base side an ongoing suspense.
